Sarah Jessica Parker turns Cannes red carpet into her runway as she models two gorgeous gowns on same night

By DAILY MAIL REPORTER

Picture of high fashion: Sarah Jessica Parker wore two different gowns Friday night to two events at the Cannes Film Festival, including the preview of her upcoming film I Don’t Know How She Does It

Sarah Jessica Parker certainly knows how to make an entrance and she had every photographer on her on Friday night as she strolled down the red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival.

The actress wowed in a floral print crepe georgette gown, with lace detailing on the sleeves and neckline from designer Ellie Saab, which she wore to the Wu Xia premier at the Palais des Festivals.

The same night she swapped into a white maxi dress for a preview of her upcoming comedy I Don’t Know How She Does It, which is based on a novel by the same name from Allison Pearson, a former Daily Mail columnist.

Proud: It's 'very relatable' is how SJP described her new movie, about a finance executive who earns much more money than her husband

Parker was a special guest at the premier of Peter Chan’s Wu Xia – a Chinese detective story which will be retitled Dragon for US audiences.

During the presentations, Harvey Weinstein also introduced the trailer for My Week With Marilyn, starring Michelle Williams as Monroe.

When Weinstein introduced Parker, he said: ‘I wish Anthony were around to see this because I know he’d love her and I know he’d love her performance.’

The Sex and the City star, 46, said she was ‘slightly terrified’ about seeing some of the footage from the new Weinstein film – which will hit cinemas in September.

And SJP appeared to have arrived alone, as her husband Matthew Broderick was probably looking after their children.

Also attending the screening of Wu Xia was Taiwanese film star Takeshi Kaneshiro, famed for House of the Flying Daggers, and Chinese actress Wei Tang.

Wei Tang, who starred in Ang Lee’s Lust, Caution looked stunning in a pale peach gown with a plunging neckline and a pearl necklace.

The movie, which was produced in Hong Kong, will be called Swordsmen when it plays to English speaking audiences. For now the film does not have a distribution date in the US or Europe, but it is scheduled to open in China in August.

Pirates take over: Penelope Cruz and Johnny Depp wow the crowds during Cannes Film Festival photo call

By DAILY MAIL REPORTER

Posing: Penelope Cruz and Johnny Depp received a huge applause when they made an appearance at Cannes

Penelope Cruz and Johnny Depp received a rapturous applause from screaming fans as they attended a photo opportunity at the 64th Cannes Film Festival.

The pair were there to promote the new Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides movie which is due for release in the UK on May 20.

Wearing a skin tight Stella McCartney dress in dark blue and black the stunning actress posed for pictures with co-star Depp who has received worldwide fame for playing swashbuckling - and sometimes a rather unsteady - Captain Jack Sparrow.

Popular: Fans were left thrilled when Depp went over to pose for pictures and sign autographs

The three films have earned billions at the box office as children and adults have flocked to watch Depp get up to his latest antics.

Female fans were also left screaming for more after Depp decided to greet fans who had been waiting hours just to catch a glimpse of the star as he attended the photo opportunity with the rest of the cast.

Film bosses have said the latest film has a much simpler story-line and is jam packed with daring stunt scenes that will leave viewers shivering with fear.

Stunning: Cruz still looked stunning in the dark blue Stella McCartney dress despite taking her shoes off

Gone are Jack's former partner's in crime, Will and Elizabeth (Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightley) who have now married and sailed into the sunset to live happily ever after.

In the new Pirates film Depp is joined by one of Captain Sparrow's old flame's Angelica, played by Cruz, who is the daughter of Blackbeard, played by Ian McShane.
The pair then head off on a mission together to try and find the fabled Fountain of Youth.

Despite taking part in action scenes Cruz was pregnant during filming but the star said the cast and crew were careful to make sure she was kept safe the entire time.
Things didn’t quite go as smoothly for her co-star Depp, who plays the infamous Jack Sparrow, who ended up with an injury after shooting a daring stunt.

Casual: Depp decided to dress down and a tired Cruz was seen carrying her shoes after the appearance

Depp said he damaged his back during filming but was determined not to let the ailment stop him from filming.

The pair posed alongside newcomers Sam Caflin, who plays Philip, a youthful missionary and Astrid Berges-Frisbey who plays a beautiful, alluring mermaid called Syrena.

Once they were finished the cast hopped on a boat before heading back to their hotel.
Cruz clearly took this as an opportunity to relax and remove her shoes after days of walking around and posing in killer heels.

She then forgot them on the boat but was quickly handed them back by a bodyguard.

From dawn till dusk: Cheryl Cole goes vamp by day with plunging white dress but covers up in gold for Cannes after party

By Sarah Bull, Liz Thomas and Jessica Satherley

The lady is a vamp: Cheryl Cole turned heads as she arrived at a premiere during the Cannes Film Festival wearing a plunging white Stephane Rolland dress before changing in to a floor-length gold gown

She turned every head at the premiere of Habernus Papam at Cannes yesterday in a plunging white dress, but Cheryl Cole still decided to show off a more modest gown later in the evening.

After watching the Italian drama at Cannes Film Festival, the 27-year-old popped over to the L’Oreal after party in a shimmering gold long-sleeved gown.

The figure-hugging dress made sure to keep all attention on her for the remainder of the evening, as she strutted around in the stunning ensemble.

Her footwear was hidden once again under her mermaid-inspired train and she accessorised the outfit with a bright red clutch.

She started her day by wearing the plunging white Stephane Rolland dress, which left very little to the imagination.

But Cheryl managed to look both sexy and elegant in the white creation.

Cheryl teamed the dress with an unusual belt, which featured what appeared to be two gold pears on the front, and gold clutch bag.

Vampish: Cheryl's slicked back hair and dark plum lips were in sharp contrast to her usual style but she looked stunning in the elegant ensemble

The X Factor USA star also opted for a different look with her hair and make-up, going for a slicked-back ponytail and dark plum-coloured lipstick.

The choice was a sharp contrast to Cheryl's usual appearance of voluminous hair and fresh-faced make-up.

Cheryl caused a stir when she arrived for the first day of the X Factor USA auditions wearing a brightly coloured outfit and huge, backcombed hair.

Hidden heels: Cheryl's footwear was hidden once again under a mermaid-inspired train and she accessorised the outfit with a bright red clutch

Revealing: The dress left very little to the imagination, but Cheryl succeeded in looking sexy and elegant

But her ensemble, reminiscent of the clingy white dress Pippa Middleton wore when her sister Kate married Prince William, couldn't have been more different.

Perhaps the reason for that was because fellow X Factor USA judge Simon Cowell had offered Cheryl some advice.

A source said: ‘Simon told her he didn’t love her orange top and purple flares - he said he had seen her look far more glamorous.

Home time: Cheryl Cole called in a night after the L'Oreal after party in Cannes by jumping into a car to be taken back to her hotel

'He’s really keen for her to boost her international profile in Cannes and has urged her to look fantastic.'

Cheryl appeared poised and confident as she posed for photographers on the red carpet at the premiere.

She then decided to make an appearance at the party hosted by L'Oreal, the cosmetics company of which she is the face.

Perfect from every angle: Cheryl looked absolutely stunning in the white creation, which featured draping to the front and back

Starlet: Cheryl's arrival sent the photographers into a mad panic, with them all attempting to get the best shot

It's the second year running Cheryl has made an appearance at Cannes.

Last year, she again managed to hit the headlines when she arrived wearing a cutaway Versace dress to perform a set at the party during the film festival.

It's been a busy few weeks for Cheryl, who is expected to continue her jetsetting by flying straight back out to Los Angeles for further X Factor USA auditions as soon as she is finished in Cannes.

And Cheryl has already proved a hit with her fellow judges Paula Abdul and L.A. Reid on X Factor USA.

Poised: Cheryl teamed the white dress with an unusual gold belt and matching clutch box bag

What's my best angle? Cheryl is a lone figure in a sea of photographers in this aerial shot of the premiere

However, the Parachutes singer told MailOnline she was nervous about how US viewers would react to her strong Geordie accent.

She said: 'I'm hoping people are going to embrace it. I'm not worried (about my accent). It's going to be interesting. I hear a lot of accents here too.

'I'm sure there will be words or phases where people are like, excuse me?'

Asked if she would adjust or change her voice, she replied emphatically: 'Never! I would be crucified where I'm from if I tried to change my accent.'

What a difference: Cheryl's slicked back hair and plum lips was in sharp contrast to the voluminous look she preferred at the first day of the X Factor auditions earlier this month

Life and Style Editor Nicole Mowbray writes:

French haute couturier Stephane Rolland says he likes the idea of dressing ‘a woman with many faces’. Just as well, as we’ve certainly seen two different sides to our Cheryl this week.

This floor-length white gown with a puddle train and plunging V-neck (we can only imagine the amount of tape being used to keep it in place and avoid a Judy Finnigan-style wardrobe malfunction) is described simply as ‘very expensive’ by one of Rolland’s spokesmen, who said the dress was made to order especially for Cheryl.

Adding a touch of her custom bling, the creation is topped off with a belt made of hand-blown glass filled with liquid gold and jewellery by Bond Street jeweller David Morris.

Groomed, sleek, with perfect make-up and immaculately manicured chocolate-coloured nails, it’s not the first time we’ve seen Cheryl on the Cannes catwalk clad in white (lest we forget last year’s white cut-out mini dress disaster) but it’s certainly the most successful.
